WILDLIFE ON YOUR PATCH

On Saturday 5th June the Wildlife on Your Patch Event on Pembroke Commons was a huge success with many adults and children enjoying a different aspect of the Commons Stream that they may well not have had before.  Thanks goes to the organisers and helpers along with all those who attended..

PAVS Silver Surfers Success

On Friday 21st May, PAVS Communities 2.0 team held a Silver Surfers open day at Pembroke 21C. The drop in day was all about helping older people in our county “Get More from the Internet”.

Twelve Silver Surfers came to explore their passions on the web. We helped them face their fears and take their first steps online, find replacement car parts on eBay, and even hunt down parish maps for their local church group. Some people used Skype to video conference friends, family and work for free, and we also showed people how to use the Nintendo Wii not only for playing games but to surf the web and watch BBC iPlayer.

Our photos from the event are available here on the photo sharing site Flickr.

If your organisation would like to learn how to make better use of technology then contact the team on 01437 771197 or email sue.blantern@pavs.org.uk.

Mutley raises £128.35 for the Cheeky Monkeys Playgroup!

On December 1st Mutley did a sponsored “guess the steps” around the Castle Pond in aid of the Cheeky Monkey’s Playgroup.  To make sure the step meter was placed on Mutley and no foul play took place, Mark Fowden and his two dogs Findlay and Daisy bore witness and walked around the pond with us.  Mutley took 2039 steps.

1st Prize (Cheeky Monkey mug and Alex Clark poster, donated by Miss P Sockell,      The Mug Tree,Main Street): won by Mr A Blunsden who guessed 2000 steps – he has kindly donated the prize to the Playgroup.

2nd Prize (a Teddy Bear, donated by Mrs Josie Relleen and Mrs Susan Smith of Castle Gifts, Main Street) – won by Mrs Pauline Paxton who guessed 2,100 steps.

3rd Prize (Bottle of red wine, donated by Chris c/o Bush Garage, Pembroke) – won by Miss Kylie Brazier who guessed 1,800 steps.

4th Prize (Box of Chocolates, donated by Chris, The Newsagents, Main Street) – won by Nancy and Lyn who guessed 2,401 steps. Chris also kindly donated £10 towards the Playgroup.

Mutley and myself wish to thank everyone for the guesses and donations and Mark for his time.
