ABOUT US

Mission Statement

To work closely with all sectors of the community to achieve sustainable economic development and community regeneration in Pembroke.

MAKING PEMBROKE A VIBRANT COMMUNITY

Pembroke 21C Community Association was established in 2000 as a result of a community led local action plan.  It acts as an umbrella organisation for a number of groups established to implement the projects identified in the action plan and supported by the community.  The action plan contained plans, projects and activities which the community had identified to regenerate the town and to improve the standard of life for those living and working in Pembroke.

Foundry House Community Centre

We have now realized one of our most important objectives:  a community centre for Pembroke!

Foundry House Building

Originally a foundry (hence the name!), the building dates back to 1839: in its later life it was donated to the community as an amenity and more recently served as the local community education. In August 2005 Pembrokeshire County Council decided to implement their policy of selling community education premises and closed the building for community use in order to sell it on the open market.

On 21st March 2007 the building was purchased from Pembrokeshire County Council. Money was raised from the following sources: Welsh Assembly Government - Community Facitilies and Activities Programme, Chevron, Pembroke Town Council, RWE nPower and Community pledges.

Celebrating the purchase of Foundry House

It's ours!  Putting up our sign!

Putting money into bricks and mortar has always been considered a good investment and this theory was confirmed by the number of people who bought a brick to help with the refurbishment of Foundry house at the launch of our "Buy a Brick" Campaign launched during Foundry Fun Day; a day of fun activities for all the family which took place at Foundry House and on Pembroke Commons on Saturday May 21st.

A three year programme to renovate the building will soon begin so that Pembroke will have a state of the art, environmentally sustainable building that will be a focus for the whole community.

Acanthus Holden have been appointed by our Trustees to prepare plans for Foundry House.  Their proposals are displayed in Foundry House for you to see but you can read about the planned conversion and take a virtual tour by clicking on the image below.
