                  Our Third Potato Festival

We were overwhelmed by the massive response to our Potato Festival which was held for the third year running in Pembroke’s Town Hall on June 7th .  It just gets better and better!

Please go to our Farmers Market Page for more details and more pictures.

The Farmers' Markets are held fortnightly in Pembroke Town Hall from 9.30am to 1.30pm. The markets have grown steadily since they began in the summer of 2006, gaining new producers each year and a loyal and increasing customer base from all over South Pembrokeshire.

                    The Pembroke Story

The Pembroke Story Heritage Project is proving a great success in the community and has held a series of talks and events since its Launch in October 2008. Joining in the Festival spirit, an exhibition is being prepared on the theme of wheels of time and will cover the history of transport from earliest times to the present day in Pembroke.  Project officers are appealing to anyone who may have photos and stories which they can use.

Following close on the heels of the Potato Festival, The Pembroke Story held its latest event 'Prehistoric Pembroke' at Pembroke Town Hall on Saturday June 13th.    Those attending were taken back through the mists of time to look at the Archaeology of Pembroke and District with Polly Groom, Archaeologist for the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Richard Jones of the Dyfed Archaeological Trust also attended with the Portable Antiquities Scheme - this was an opportunity to record finds and to handle artefacts.

Spring has been very much in the air on the Millonds with swans mating and nesting and the first ducklings hatching.

The Volunteer Wardens now meet regularly on a monthly basis and are out and about - there are volunteering opportunities here if you want to join our dedicated band.  Want to know more about the Millponds?  Then take a look at the

Pembroke Can Make a Difference!

Besides making a difference in the community by bringing people together and initiating our various projects, members of the Sustainable Energy Group are lookiing to promote a greener, more sustainable lifestyle.   We know that by adopting minor changes to the way we live, people in Pembroke can make a big difference.  But we want to be sure that the changes we make are effective and appropriate.

The principal aim of this project is to look at how a small community can respond positively to the challenges of climate change and reduce its impact on the environment.

So we are starting with a questionnaire to help us to build up a picture of how we live in Pembroke and to identify opportunities for us to make small changes which will reduce our individual impact on the environment.  The questionnaire has been developed especially for us by post-graduate students from the Welsh School of Architecture Sustainable Development course at Cardiff University.

          Consulting our Community

Pembroke 21C Trustees and the Directors of Pembroke 21C Community Interest Company are very aware of the need to consult you, the community.  The work that they initiate in Pembroke for the benefit of its residents must be based on what you want and need.

However, consultation is a process and not an event!  So in addition to seeking your views in Foundry House, in Network and through this website we are planning a full consultation of all our stakeholders over the coming two years.

To find out more click here to visit our Pembroke Action Plan page which has been created to keep you in touch with what is going on.
